I've been concentrating on my tau of late and my poor marines have been a bit neglected. I'm planning on at least getting a tactical squad before the codex is released (supposedly September but I'm not getting into rumours). In the meantime I have been working on my fire warriors but I got the time to paint up an older model that was only primed. He is going to be a sergeant for the unit as well as a tester for the rest of the army. So here he is.
The majority of the model is black so I'll start with that: It began with a spray prime of Chaos Black. I then tidied it up wit Abaddon Black and highlighted it with Mechanicus Standard Grey and in some prominent places, Dawnstone.
The red is Khorne Red, highlighted with Wazdakka red and then Troll Slayer Orange in places. I then washed it with Carrobourg Crimson.
The metal is simply Leadbelcher washed with either Agrax Earthshade or Nuln Oil.
The Aquila is Warplock Bronze, washed with Agrax Earthshade and then highlighted with Runefang Steel.
The green is Warpstone Glow, the fist is Celestra Grey with Nuln Oil in the recesses, the sunburst is Ulthuan Grey.
.
The flesh is Bugman's Glow, highlighted with Cadian Fleshtone, then washed with Riekland Flesh. The hair is Rhinox Hide, highlighted with Steel Legion Drab and washed with Agrax Earthshade.
The flex fittings are Mechanicus Standard Grey.
The purple is Xereus Purple, washed in some places with Druchii Violet.
The snow is just Mourne Mountain Snow and GW modelling snow. I'm still experimenting with the snow and will likely change it for the rest of the army.
I've magnetised one of his arms because it broke off during a game ages ago and I painted it separately. It helps for transport.
The damage on his legs was sponged on using a make-up applicator, with Mechanicus Standard Grey and some Rhinox Hide
So, please tell me what you think. I appreciate any and all criticisms. And by the way, I thought I'd mention
I like it! If I may suggest, I'd hit the flex fittings with some nuln oil to help define the texture a bit. Other than that, I think it's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteyeh, this guy was a bit rushed. thought of that but forgot it again. what do you think of the snow?
ReplyDeleteI dig it! It's got a nice "slushy with a bit of fresh snow on top" look that really works!
ReplyDeleteThanks
